This certification verifies the robustness, transparency, and reliability of an organization’s sustainability data management system, as well as its implementation of defined processes, in accordance with the TIC Council framework.
As sustainability disclosures become more visible and detailed, organizations face increasing pressure to demonstrate how their environmental and sustainability data is generated and controlled. Investors, customers, and regulators expect more than statements, according to DEKRA’s sustainability experts. They want independent confirmation that the underlying processes and systems are structured and reliable.
DEKRA’s Sustainability Process Certification under the SPC Scheme provides independent third party confirmation that sustainability data management processes are transparent, consistent, and robust. Instead of validating a single product claim, certification evaluates the systems and governance structures that support sustainability data and communications. This certification is applicable for companies across all industries that collect and process the required data.
The Sustainability Process Certification (SPC) Scheme follows a clearly defined, four-step certification process :
• Application: The applicant completes, signs, and submits the application form to DEKRA, the Certification Body.
• Evaluation: DEKRA assesses the applicant’s sustainability data management system and verifies that the defined processes are implemented in accordance with the applicable Program and Technical Rules under the TIC Council framework.
• Review: The evaluation results are reviewed to confirm that all certification process requirements are met.
• Decision and Issuance of Certificate: If the review is favorable, DEKRA issues the certificate. The certificate is valid for three years and includes annual surveillance audits to confirm continued compliance.
Developed by the TIC Council, the SPC Scheme establishes a structured and harmonized approach to sustainability process certification. The scheme establishes the requirements, rules, and procedures that govern the certification process. The scheme is based on clearly defined program and Technical Rules. These rules specify how accredited certification bodies evaluate sustainability data management systems and related processes.
