What Does This Scheme Cover?
The Mobile Device Security Certification GSMA Scheme aims to provide an industry-wide security assurance framework that increases the transparency of security capabilities of mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, to facilitate improvements in security levels across the whole mobile device ecosystem.
Mobile Device Manufacturers can evaluate Mobile Device conformance to the requirements defined in the ETSI TS 103 732 series.
Manufacturers complete a self-assessment questionnaire and submit supporting evidence (e.g., test script results). Upon review for completeness, certification is awarded and published.
In addition to Level 1 requirements, devices undergo functional testing to verify the manufacturer’s claims. The Laboratory reviews the questionnaire and supporting evidence for accuracy. Certification is awarded and published upon successful verification.
Building on Level 2, this level includes a vulnerability assessment with penetration testing by the MSTL. Certification is awarded and published only if the device withstands attacks within the specified attack potential.
